Firm of Record is Substance Architecture

This renovation of a 1980’s Eastern Iowa house for a family of four created modern, beautiful spaces that reinforced the home’s original concept of three volumes of ‘eating/living/sleeping.’ The design utilized a refined material palette of white oak and white quartz.  Interior/exterior living was a driving force for the design which led to new open connections to the elevated deck in the heavily wooded backyard, blurring the boundary between inside and out.
