MASONIC BLOCK

McGregor, Iowa

Built in 1866, the Masonic Block is a three story historically significant complex that contributes to the historic fabric of McGregor, Iowa. After decades of disrepair, the nearly 15,000 square foot building was in need of a major renovation to bring the structure into the 21st century. The street level creates dynamic retail spaces that activate main street, while the upper two floors have modern apartments. Unique historic details are retained, as is the connection to the eastern Iowa bluffs on which the structure sits. The design retains the historic fabric while introducing new amenities to breathe new life into the historic structure.
