DANCE BUILDING

This project includes the relocation of the University of Iowa’s dance department to the former Museum of Art on campus. This relocation and renovation project will allow a new identify to be given to the program and will strengthen the dance community. The renovated space celebrates the existing precast structure while providing clear pathways, improved daylighting, and collaborative spaces. 

Vision Statement:

Adapting the PAX building will create functional spaces for the University of Iowa Dance Department tailored to teaching, research and performance in a way that is efficient, inspires creativity, is accessible and welcoming, and supports the unique needs of the program.

Goals:

– Become the new identity of the program and strengthen the dance community

– Reinforce the connection to the campus arts district and encourage collaboration with other disciplines

– Support engagement with the broader community

– Create spaces that can be utilized by multiple performing art departments
