MASONIC BLOCK

McGregor, Iowa

Originally built in 1866, the Masonic Block is a historic landmark in McGregor, Iowa that has been restored and reimagined after decades of vacancy. This nearly 15,000-square-foot building now combines modern functionality with the building’s rich architectural heritage. The street level features revitalized retail spaces that activate main street, while the upper two floors offer modern apartments. Unique historic details are retained, as is the connection to the eastern Iowa bluffs on which the structure sits. The design retains the historic fabric while introducing new amenities, universal design features for accessibility, and all-electric utilities. The renovation breathes new life into the historic structure, contributing to McGregor’s ongoing community revitalization.
